I hope everyone has a happy and safe holiday. I'm at work tonight, but Jeff and Amelia are here too. :-)

I just got some great news, my mom and my sister and nieces are coming down for Amelias birthday! Wahoo! I'm so excited. Hopefully we'll get to do disneyland as well, my nieces have never been and I think my sister went once in 6th grade or something.

You know you're from Washington when...

These are so true!! I forget how much different life in SoCal is...

You know you're from Washington when...

You know the state flower (Mildew)
You feel guilty when you don't recycle.
You use the phrase "sun break" and know what it means.
You know more than 10 ways to order coffee.
You know more people who own boats than air conditioners.
You feel overdressed wearing a suit to a nice restaurant.
You've stood on a deserted corner in the rain waiting for the "Walk" Signal.
You understand that if it has no snow or has not erupted, it is not a real mountain. You can taste the difference between Starbuck's, Seattle's Best, Veneto's, Peet's, and Tully's.
You know the difference between Chinook, Coho, and Sockeye salmon.
You consider swimming an indoor sport.
You are well versed in the difference between Japanese, Chinese and Thai food.
In winter, you go to work in the dark and come home in the dark -- while only working eight-hour days.
You never go camping without waterproof matches and a poncho.
You are not fazed by "Today's forecast: showers followed by rain," and "Tomorrow's forecast: rain followed by showers."
You have no concept of humidity without precipitation.
You can point to at least two volcanoes, even if you cannot see through the cloud cover.
You notice "the mountain is out" when it is a pretty day and you can actually see it.
You put on your shorts when the temperature gets above 50, but still wear your hiking boots and parka.
You switch to your sandals when it gets about 60, but keep the socks on.
You've actually used your mountain bike on a mountain.
You think people who use umbrellas are either wimps or tourists.
You knew immediately that the view out of Frasier's window was fake.
You actually get these jokes and pass them on to other friends from Washington.

Our Christmas went pretty well! On Christmas eve we made the drive up to LA to have dinner with Rosie's family. They are so nice and welcomed us into their home. All of the kids there loved playing with Amelia. They had turkey, pork, chicken, puerto rican rice, tons of other sides and of course flan for dessert. Rosies mom even sent us home with some fresh Tamales. Christmas morning we did Amelias presents. She wasn't too interested at first, but once she got going she did okay. Christmas day we spent at home, I made a ham and the typical sides. Jeff's friend Andrew came over for dinner and then we watched bad Santa.

Below are some of the photos I took, there are bunches more but I was too lazy to upload them all! I hope everyone had a Happy Holiday!

Here Mommy want some of my food??

Amelia with Rosie's dad. Amelia was the youngest kid there, so of course everyone had to hold her. Even though we don't have much of our own family here, at least we are lucky enough to have other families adopt us. :-)

I don't think Kahlel was very happy about sharing his Grandpa's lap with the baby...

Happy Holidays!

I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday. We're driving up to LA to visit one of Jeff's coworkers families for Christmas Eve dinner. MMMM Puerto Rican and Mexican food..... Then we are going to have Christmas home with just the three of us tomorrow. We may have one of Jeff's friends come over for dinner, haven't heard yet. I'm so glad we're not traveling this year. Even though I'm really sad I won't get to see my family.

Pictures

I found Stuff Portrait Friday's in Melanies blog. They are posted each week by Kristine over at Random and Odd. Now that is a funny blog! I've decided I'm going to start doing it as well. This week its

-Your favorite wrapped present

This one is from my fellow nanny Buffi for the bug. It's cute because it's sparkly and has a great bow on it!

-Something new you added to your decorations this year

This funny little tree. I decided I didn't want to deal with the big tree this year with Amelia into everything and having just moved. It's not as pathetic and disorganized as it looks in the picture. It's much cuter and happier. Promise!

Weight loss..

I am finally feeling like I'm back on track with my eating and weight loss. I have been working out a lot as well. Something happened the end of October ( moving, trip home to Oregon, I could go on and on with excuses) and it lasted through November. However, I'm back on program again and doing well. Last week the scale said I gained a pound but this week it says I'm down 4, so it all evens out. As long as it comes off eventually I'm happy! :-) I am really enjoying the different workout tapes I have found. Who would have ever thought I'd enjoy doing aerobics, kickboxing, and dance videos. I'm sure I look like an idiot but I don't care! It gets my metabolism going and I feel so much better. Once I get a bit more confident I want to start going to the gym here in our complex. It's really nice and every time I've been over there I see maybe one person. I'm going to make it a goal to start going 1x a week after Christmas. Gotta work up to these things.

Now that Amelia has started walking, she is all over the place! She walked all over McDonalds today, it's so much fun to watch her! A lady there asked how old she was, when I said 10 months she seemed surprised, she said Wow you have an early walker! Poor you. ha ha ha...

She's Walking!

It's offical, Amelia has started walking. For weeks she has been taking a step here or there, and cruising like crazy. Then yesterday she just started taking off. THe most steps in a row I counted last night was 10. And if I let her hold my finger, she will just keep walking. My baby is getting all grown up. :-(
