Not much exciting going on around here. I have been making bows again, which is fun. It's interesting since Amelia wants to help. I have made a few pairs of socks to go with outfits and bows too. I should really start taking pictures of this stuff.

In other news we've gone and looked at a few townhouses and condos. It's amazing to me how different places can be that cost the same amount of money. We saw two townhouses in the same complex. The price was almost identical, one was with no shower faucets and it had baseboard heating, and nothing but the carpet had been updated in 30 years. In the same complex we saw a bigger place, with a brand new kitchen and new bathrooms and it was $100 more. Crazy! I don't think we've found our dream house yet,(and I have a feeling we won't for a while, we're not looking too hard yet) but it's encouraging that there are places out there in our price range.

Why?

Why does my daughter insist on trying to bathe herself in my bathroom sink? Anytime she is left unattended in a bathroom she feels the need to climb up in the sink, turn the faucet on, plug the sink, and then sit in it. Then she is all wet and since she's usually a little dirty (especially her feet) I end up with little dirty footprints all over the tile in there. With the whole big girl, peeing on the potty thing going on, it's not like I can lock her out of the bathroom. Seriously though, the kid is driving me crazy with the sink stuff! I think she is part fish. Or maybe we just need to bathe her more often. LOL

My new favorite website

I can't believe it's 7:20 and my kids are still asleep!

So my new favorite website is paperbackswap.com. I don't have much time to read these days, but I am starting to have little bits of free time (like right now!) when I could read for a few minutes. I am not one to reread a book 37 times, but I have a hard time with the library, since sometimes it takes me longer to read a book than they think it should. So for a while, I just didn't read much anymore. But recently I have rediscovered paperback swapping. You register all of the books you have to trade on their website. You get a few credits just for signing up, and then you get a credit for every book you send out. So someone will see a book they want on your "bookshelf." They put in a request and if you agree, you mail it to them. Shipping is around $2. Every time you send out a book, you get a credit to get a book of your own sent to you. For about $2 and a book you're done with, you can have a new book to read. Not to mention there are fewer books getting tossed when people are done with them.

I have a few books coming in the mail to me, one is about raising spirtited children, another has something to do with a condo hotel and the third is a murder mystery. It will probably take me 10 years to read them all but that's okay. At least I know I won't get any library fines!

The spider bit me and flew away!

Amelia got her first bee sting today ( at least I think that's what it was.) She and her friend were playing in the back yard. Amelia came running in screaming and trying to wipe her hand on me. I asked what happened and she said the bug bit her. So then I freak out because we have some nasty spiders around here (black widows, brown recluses, you get the idea.) I asked Amelia and her friend what kind of bug it was and I got blank stares. We tried to get the kids to show us where it happened, and they kept showing me the welt on her hand. LOL When I asked what happened her friend said, the spider bit her, and then it flew away. Looking at the wound we decided it was a bee sting and she has been fine all afternoon and evening.

oh and

One more funny thing. We were on our way home from the store and Amelia saw a car with one of those car covers on it, and she thought it was the coolest thing in the world. When we got home, she wanted to know why our car didn't have a tent. I had to explain that our car has a house (garage) to live in so it doesn't need to have a tent like that other car. I don't think she bought it since she just told me we needed to go to another store and buy our van a tent...

It's Saturday

The weekend is here. Amelia and I went grocery shopping this morning. It was nice to get there early and get out. We did great, groceries for the week as well as some Easter stuff for only $60. We eat a lot of fresh produce, and have been averaging $150, so this is pretty good for us. I still have to go to costco, but that's a monthly trip that doesn't come out of my grocery budget.

Amelia is so funny with the things that she wants to add to the cart. She's like any other kid in that she wants to get the Dora fruit snacks ( nope) the Easter Candy (she got one piece) and soda(nope again.) The things that crack me up though are when she tries to buy the "pretty pink things with the flowers on them", which turns out to be a pack of Daisy razors, or when she tries to get me to buy incontinence supplies. Thanks Honey, Mommy doesn't need a diaper just yet. All in all it was a good morning. We came home, Jeff made some breakfast and now all 3 of them are in bed watching cartoons.

Job stuff

So things are still going well for Jeff at his new job. He comes home so much happier these days. He should be officially hired next month, when we'll be switching over to their insurance and stuff. Wooohoo for not having to deal with COBRA anymore. It's worked out okay because the agency is paying extra to cover the COBRA but it's still a pain in the ass. Now the question is, what insurance plan will we pick?

Once he gets hired officially I'll breathe a sigh of relief. So far it's been great for him, but I'm just not real trusting of anywhere. And hopefully at this job he'll even get an employee performance evaluation and accompanying raise once a year. Something that never happened at that other job.

Seriously?

This time I was searching for some baby stuff. I am trying to find one of those mesh things that you hang in the corner of a kids room to put their stuffed animals in. I have checked our Target and Babies R Us. Anyway, I came across office space Connecticut. I think I need a new search engine.

Random

Have you ever done a web search and ended up somewhere completely different? I was searching for help with sick babies (Anthony has a cold and there isn't much I can give him, so I was hoping for some ideas on things to make him more comfortable. ) Anyway, I ended up finding a website with Kentucky Derby Party Invitations. Who is in charge of setting up search terms? Because I'm pretty sure a sick baby has nothing to do with the Kentucky Derby.

It's getting easier...

I haven't been blogging so much lately. My time on the computer is limited. Things are going pretty well around here. it's getting so much easier to have two kids. In the last few weeks, Amelia has finally mastered the potty. Anthony is sleeping through the night. (8am-8pm last night! Woohoo.) Amelia's behavior has gotten so much better. She is listening better and just seems happier all around. She finished her tumbling class and is starting a tap/ballet class in another week. She loved tumbling, hopefully the next class goes as well for her. We get to buy her a little leotard and tap shoes. I'm not so worried about going out with them both anymore, we went to the Doctor's office with only the single stroller for Anthony and it went really well. Jeff thinks we should try and put her in school soon. I keep saying it's too early, but really, I think I'm not ready. I don't want to miss out on all the things she is doing and learning.

On the move!

My little man is one the move! He has been rolling front to back and back to front for a while now, but it's been pretty accidental. Well today that's over. He just rolled 3 or 4 times in a row. I guess it's time to get things a little more baby proofed again!

Blinds

I think I need to get some roller shades for the kids room. You know the ones that go under the curtains and block out the sun? I think the room would be a lot cooler when it's hot out. Their room gets a lot of sun and the blinds don't keep it all out. Their room is so hot sometimes. So have any of you tried them?

Hmm

I saw the funniest show on last night. It was called something like Trick my Truck. This truck driver had some sad story, so they took his truck ( not a pickup, but a semi) and he got all these new truck accessories. Some of the stuff they did was crazy. Like does anyone's semi truck really need that much chrome? But hey, it killed a half hour while I was nursing the little man.

Ummm

There is something going on with the links in my blog,(thanks for letting me know Sophia!) I'll try and get it figured out later today. :-)

Why?

Why do people think it's okay to bash people because they are gay? Go here and see Kristine's cool picture and check out the Oklahoma legislators tirade about Gay people.

Tackle It Tuesday

Tackle It Tuesday Meme

My Tackle It Tuesday this week is the kids bedroom. It was messy, had too much stuff, and the layout was not working so well. So Amelia and I spent some time yesterday and today cleaning it up. Now it's all tidied up, I got rid of some toys and a lot of junk that Amelia had collected. I rearranged the furniture as well. I don't have any after pictures right now since Anthony is in there sleeping.(in his crib! Yay.)

Did you play? Go see some other Tackle It Tuesdays here.

Finally!

The weight loss has started again. I had a decent loss this week. It's about friggin time. I'm sure the fact that I drank a lot of water and exercised helped. I'm still trying to decide about joining the gym. I really want to do it, and we can afford the monthly payment. I'm just not sure about finding the time in the evenings. Anthony can go to child care once he is 6 months old, but it's $3 a kid each time. So for me to go 3x a week would be $72 a month. That's kind of a lot. Right now I'm just doing my videos and using my hand weights.

So my mom and Grandma are coming to visit this week. I'm excited! We're going to see my Mom's Dad, whom I have only met once. I'm working on laundry and cleaning up the house today. Did I mention yesterday how much I love the new vacuum? Yup, I'm pathetic. I'm also going to start listing some excess junk on eBay. Hopefully it will help me get some more junk out of this house.

Sunday night ramblings

The kids are sick, so our weekend wasn't too exciting. I was up all night last night with my little sickies so we missed a birthday party we were supposed to go to today. I feel bad because I totally flaked. I think I'd had about an hour of sleep by the time the party started.

I got a new vaccuum today though, how sad is it that that was my biggest excitement? LOL

There is a new show on the History channel that started tonight. It's called Axmen. It's about loggers in rural Oregon. Right by where I grew up. It's on right now, it's kinda cool to watch, makes me a little homesick, there sure aren't forests like that in the OC. We don't get rain like that either. :-)

One thing I don't miss is sharing the roads with logging trucks. It can be pretty scary and people end up needing the truck accident lawyer.

More TV

I watched the last episode of Dr. Drew's show the other day. (If you don't know about it, it's called celebrity rehab with Dr. Drew. It's about a bunch of not so famous celebrities who are in need of addiction treatment. It's pretty entertaining though. I need to get a life. I wonder how many of the people featured are going to make it and stay clean and sober? I know the success rates for treatment are not great. But at least they are trying I guess.

Movies

It's been so long since I've see any good movies. I don't even remember the last time I went to a theater. Jeff thinks I hate going to the movies, and watching them at home, but that's not true. I do have a short attention span, but if it's a good movie, I'll watch it! I just don't usually like the kind of movies he does, and he's not going to watch my kinds of movies most of the time. These days it's almost impossible to get time away from the kids to go to the movies anyway. I remember how exciting it was to go when I was a kid, before there was stadium seating and 37 movies at one theater. There are a few movie previews I've seen lately that I actually want to go see! I may have to start leaving my kids once in a while to go to a movie. Or maybe I should get surround sound and install home theater chairs and have my own theater.

TV

So one of my favorite things these days is the DVR. I spend a lot of time sitting on the couch nursing Anthony. While I love snuggling my son, I hate actually feeding him. It's uncomfortable for me, so I destract myself with the TV. Anyway, the point of this post is not that my boobs hurt when I feed my kid. The point is, I have been watching a lot of random TV the last four months. Some of my favorites now are American Idol (so glad on which guys went home, I didn't think either one was very good compared to the rest)Torchwood (on BBC America, spinoff from Doctor Who) anything on the History channel, HGTV, or Discovery. The show New Amsterdam looks like it might actually be good too. Now besides all the dramas and educational shows, I have a mild obsession for bad reality TV. My latest favorite in this realm is Celebrity Rehab with Doctor Drew. Basically it's a bunch of semi famous people who are in a drug and alcohol rehab center. It's pretty entertaining when you want mindless TV. I think there is a new episode waiting for me when Anthony needs to eat again.

The funny thing is if Jeff would agree, I'd get rid of the cable since it's a lot of money, but he won't, so I'm gonna use it. Once Anthony isn't eating so often though, I am really going to try and convince him to shut it off. Maybe even just for the summer. There are so many things we should be doing around here besides watching a ton of TV. And Amelia would watch it all day long too if we let her, which really bugs me. So now she only gets TV before 8 AM and then one show before bed. Unless Daddy's home then all bets are off. But I'm trying to stick to it.

Okay so this totally turned into a rambling about TV and why it's great and then it's evils. Not what I meant to post but oh well. :-)

Crazy

Not only is having a baby hard work because you have a new baby, but it's even harder when you take into account all the stuff going on in your body. I had a really hard time after Amelia was born, I was so sleep deprived, and so grouchy. I wonder if it's the way the progesterone and other hormones come and go from your body when you're pregnant and then not again. I'm sure it will be hard when I wean Anthony too. Not sure what my point is. LOL Anyway...

Is it weird that Jeff is on one computer reading my blog and I'm on another computer 5 feet away from him blogging? LOL Don't ya love technology?

Buzzfuse

So someone sent me a link for a free trial for this website called Buzzfuse.com. So I went and signed up to try it. Sign up was easy. It wanted me to upload all my google contacts which I did not do ( I don't want anyone to have access to my email) but you can also upload manually so thats good. Basically the site is set up to help you promote your blog. So if you're someone who has ad revenue and need to get more people to your blog, you could use the site to promote yourself. There are some paid options, but you can register and have a basic membership for free. I am all registered, now I have to go back and activate the posts I registered. I'll let ya know if it improves traffic to my blog or not.

What to eat?

Since Anthony is breastfed, I get a lot of WW points each day to eat. Today I have gotten in all of my healthy stuff servings, and I still have 20 points left to eat. I have found that when I don't eat all my points every day I have issues with my milk supply, so I have to plan my points better tomorrow. Maybe I'll have something really yummy tonight like cheese and crackers. Oh and besides getting in my water, dairy fruit and veg, I walked two miles. Yay me.

There are a few other people out there that I know are dieting along with me, how are you all doing?
