Happy Birthday to you..

This is a post that for some reason didn't show up when I originally posted it...

Today my baby girl turned three! I can't believe she is three already. Where has the time gone. She ended up in our bed and so did Anthony. Here they are sleeping together. Aren't they sweet?

She is growing into this amazing little person. She can generally tell me what she wants and needs. We can have converations now. Gone are the days of pointing and whining, she can communicate! She is still working on the potty training, but we'll get there. She loves anything to do with princesses or arts and crafts. She is totally in love with her baby brother. When we're driving in the car and he starts to whine, she makes shhhh noises at him and tries to hold his hand or turn on some music. The park or playgroup are her favorite places to be. She is totally in love with her friends, constantly asking to see Jack and Trinity. She is also quite the little diva when it comes to clothes. She has gotten very picky about what she wears. She would go everywhere in pajamas if I let her. It's not unusual to find her clothes in a pile somewhere and then out comes Amelia in her jammies and ready for lunch! It's been a challenging year since she has become so smart. But that's okay I wouldn't change it for a second.

I'm a bad blogger!

I'm sure you're all wondering where I've been. (Yeah right I say that like I have a ton of readers. LOL) I haven't been around much the last week. Jeff's mom was here for Amelia's birthday. I have a few posts I need to publish; Anthony turned 3 months and Amelia turned 3. I'll be back later today.:-)

Wordless Wednesday #12

Today's the day!

The hubs starts his new job today. I'm excited for him,I think there will be a lot more opportunities with this company. And better pay and benefits doesn't hurt either. I'll be back later with my Tackle it Tuesday, I have to finish it first. LOL

To snip or not to snip...

When I found out Little Man was a boy, the first thought that went through my head was "Oh fuck. I have to decide whether or not to circumcise him." It was a really hard decision for me. The academy of pediatrics does not recomend it anymore. It's considered cosmetic, and therefor not covered by our insurance. The man in the house didn't care either way. In the end I think I made an informed decision. The point of this post is to share an article I found about the rates of circumcision in the US. According to this article at babycenter only 30 percent of boys in the west are circumcised. Other areas have a much higher rate. I wonder what that is? If you are the parent of a boy, how did you decide whether to do it or not?

Twelve Weeks Later

My baby (the little one) is twelve weeks old today. Twelve weeks ago today, I was at the hospital for my Non Stress test. A totally normal occurance, I went twice a week from 32 weeks on. Little Anthony was not very active at all. My NST's were usually so easy; he would generally move around like a crazy man and I'd be done in 15 minutes. After an hour and a half he still wasn't moving a lot. The nurse did my ultrasound and couldn't find much amniotic fluid. She told me to wait a minute while she went to talk to labor and delivery, but that I probably wasn't going home. And I didn't. They admited me and eight hours later I went into surgery. Because I had just eaten before the NST, we had to wait that long so I wouldn't have food in my stomach for the surgery. An hour after that I was on my way to recovery and Jeff was in the nursery with my new baby.

Where does the time go? I hear people saying that and think it sounds silly, especially when you spend all day every day with your babies, but it really does go by so fast. Some of his lastest accomplishments include rolling over (both ways!) which we saw for the first time last Friday, sleeping for much longer stretches at night, and growing like a weed. He is in 6 month clothes already. He is so long. I am finally realizing this is my last baby. I've probably shared this before, but I had my tubes tied during the surgery, so we're done. I have no interest in having more babies, but at the same time since I know this is it, I want to savor every minute of it. And it's going by too fast. He's already past the totally immobile, floppy necked newborn stage. He holds his head up pretty well, and he loves to smile at his Mama (as well as the wall behind me, but we're working on that. :-) ) I am so thankful that I get to be home with my babies. I never thought I wanted to be a stay at home mom, now I can't imagine doing anything else.

Weigh in this week

I am down one pound this week. That's a little disapointing, because I know I could have lost more. I stuck within my points all week, but I wasn't good at getting in my water or exercising. So this week I will continue to stay within my points and I will drink 10 glasses of water every day! Because I'm breastfeeding Anthony, I really need to drink lots of water.

I have two cups of water done for today, only eight more to go.

Jeff makes these yummy egg sandwiches. He has always made them, and they are soooo good. But they are generally pretty unhealthy. Eggs, cheese ham and butter usually on a bagel or something. So today, my sweetie made me a lighter version. One egg, whole wheat toast with lowfat cheese. It was so good. And half the calories!

I'm going to go grocery shopping today. Just have to convince the hubs to stay home. LOL He loves to get extra junk we don't need. I have a hard time avoiding junk food when it's in the house.

Pretty please with sugar on top...

I loved that saying when I was a little girl. :-) Anyway, I have a favor to ask. If you have a link to my blog in your blog, can you update the link to http://www.theocmama.com ? I don't know how long the other address will forward. Thanks!

2008 Presidential Candidate Matching Quiz

How sad.

A US soldier (and blogger) was killed in Iraq recently. He had written a blog to be posted by a friend in the event of his death. It can be read here. He has asked that his death not be made a political thing, so I won't comment about how I feel about the war, just thought I'd share the post.

I feel like a Mommy sandwich...

Too many people are residing in my bed at the moment. It's 4 AM and I just snuck away because I can't sleep. Jeff is curled up on one edge of the bed. He is snoring like crazy. Poor guy. Exactly three milimeters from Jeff is Amelia. She has this thing about sleeping practically on top of us lately. She starts off in her own bed in her own room, and as often as not, she has made her way to our room by morning. I could probably close our door at night, then she wouldn't hear Anthony fussing when he wants to be fed. But then I'd worry that she would need me and I wouldn't hear her. So next to Amelia (who if she is not on top of one of us is sleeing sideways with her head in Jeff's back and her feet in my face) is my spot. And next to that is the bassinet.

Unfortunately tonight, Anthony wants to be like his sister and sleep on top of Mommy or Daddy. Since Jeff has to work, I get nighttime baby duty, and I am up every hour or so with him. I spend 15 minutes or so feeding him. Then he falls asleep. I sit there completely still waiting for him to be really asleep. After 10 minutes he's usually really out and I can transfer him to his bed. Once he's in his bed one of two things can happen. One is he wakes up completely and we start over again, although then the feeding is usually less than five minutes. The other is he fusses and squirms and wiggles for a minute, then drifts off to sleep again. I pat his back and speak to him in a soft soothing voice hoping he'll choose the latter. So far tonight he has chosen the first one numerous times, and the latter only once. Occasionally I will drift off to sleep with him curled up in my arms. I never sleep soundly though, although he sleeps wonderfully when he is all snuggled up. I will never completely understand people who truly enjoy co sleeping. I can never sleep well when my children are in my bed. I am constantly on edge, waking up regularly to make sure they are okay.

So it's nearly 5 AM now and everyone, including the cat, is asleep in my bed except me. I guess I should go join them.

It's raining!

I love the rain. I love the smell of rain. It's been raining off and on all weekend. We were going to go to disneyland or the zoo but never ended up going. Oh well next weekend maybe.

I had my weighin on Saturday. I lost which is always nice. Now I just have to keep it up.

I'm not sure what else I wanted to write about, I'm really distracted this evening. Maybe I'll be back later.

Christian Faith Financial

I am not sure how I feel about this website. They offer Christian payday loans. Without giving much information, they ask for an awful lot of personal info. Christian Faith Financial requires your social security number, drivers license number and bank account number along with a huge amount of other personal info to be given online. All of this must be submitted before you find out the terms of the loan.

I couldn't find anywhere on the site that tells the amount of interest you will be charged. I would be very hesitant to give all of that info to a company I've never heard of without having more information on them. I wonder if people just automatically trust them because they say they are a Christian company?

Playing together

Amelia and Anthony played together for the first time yesterday. When I'm in my room folding laundry I put Anthony in the middle of the bed, he loves to look up at the light and celing fan. I had him propped up a little bit on a pillow,so he could see Amelia. She got all the rest of the pillows and built a car around him and herself. She even got a small pillow as her steering wheel. She would "buckle up" Anthony and her babies, then get in her seat and drive them all over. They both seemed to have fun. I think Anthony loved the attention from his big sister. He kept smiling when she would turn around and talk to him. Amelia is very much into dramatic play lately, I can see her imagination really taking off and I love it.

Do you play?

One of the things on my "I will do this someday" list is learning to play the piano. I can play some basic songs like Jingle Bells and Mary Had a Little Lamb, but that's about it. I'd really like to learn more. I found this website that has a Piano lessons & piano chords newsletter. It's free and there are over one hundred issues of the publication. When I have a little more time in my day, I will sign up and each issue will be sent to my inbox every five days or so. It sounds pretty good. If you try it out, let me know.

Amelia is watching that weird show called Yo Gabba Gabba. They are all dancing around singing. Amelia is dancing along, singing with them, yelling "Go Maya, Go Maya, Go Maya." Then she yells to me, "Mommy, I singing, Go Maya. Mommy, Say great job Maya."

I tell her "Great job Amelia" she says Thanks and goes back to dancing and singing.(She calls herself Maya.)

The other blog is here. Although I don't update it much. One of these days I will start updating it regularly. :-)
