Ugh

The illness in the house has spread. Now we are all in some stage of this icky cold or flu or whatever it is. I'm not sure who has it worse, Jeff having to go to work sick, or me having to stay home and keep the kids alive and the laundry going and all of us fed.

On the plus side, Amelia took a nap today. That almost never happens these days. On the negative side, Anthony didn't. Nap that is. And he's not a happy little man when he doesn't nap. I'm not sure what the point of this post was. I know I had something I was going to tell you all about. Ugh it must be time for more nyquil.

Did you know that when you can type by touch, you don't even have to open your eyes to blog? Just lay in bed with the laptop and ramble on about nothing. Amelia is laying on me watching cartoons, and she just asked me to buy her some Polar watches. I don't even know what that is. Okay, I think it's time to end this load of krap now. If you don't hear from me for a few days, send in a hazmat team. No one else should get this bug we have. It sucks.

bleh

Still sick. Still feel like krap. Kids are still driving me crazy, although Amelia is trying, she told Anthony not to jump on me because I don't feel good. Sweet girl. :-) So in between loads of laundry, I'm laying in bed watching cartoons with the kids and looking for stuff online. My kids don't need clothes really right now, but that doesn't mean I can't look does it? I thought Gymbo was expensive, and then I discovered catimini. Now some of their stuff is cute. Take this poncho for instance.

I think Amelia would probably love it.

Anyone want to guess how much it costs?

It's now on sale at half off and is still more than I would spend, but I'm talking about the original sale price. Are you ready for this? It's $92. For a little sweater thing! Seriously? If someone can really afford to pay that for a sweater for their preschooler, can you send me some $$? Cause I could use it for something important like food or gas or preschool.

Ugh

I'm sick. And it sucks, because I'm a big baby. I took some cold medicine though so I don't feel as sick, but now I feel like my head is off in outer space somewhere. I swear this stuff makes me loopy. I'm bummed that I got sick now, we had stuff planned this week, a birthday party tomorrow, and I was supposed to go out on Wednesday. Not going to happen if I'm feeling like this. Maybe I just need more caffeine. I wonder if I can convince Jeff to get me an espresso machines for my birthday.

Amelia is begging me to go to the park and Anthony is waking up from his nap, so I guess it's time to go for a walk to the park. I told her we'd go yesterday but we never made it.

Weird

I think I'm in the twilight zone or something. It's almost 8:30, and my children are asleep. They are usually up by 6. Weird! Amelia and Jeff went to a friend's house las night to watch a UFC fight on PPV, so that's probably why she is still asleep. No idea what's up with Anthony.

Five years!

In February Jeff and I will have been married for 5 years. We got married in vegas on Valentine's day. We moved to the OC at the same time. I got pregnant a couple months later. We both had new jobs, a new apartment, a new marriage and I was a crazy pregnant lady who vomited almost constantly as well. I really did not want to move here but came because it was what Jeff had wanted. It was a big adjustment for both of us. That first year of marriage was probably one of the hardest things I have ever done. But, we made it through it and we have two wonderful children, and we haven't killed each other yet. I'm trying hard to figure out what we should do for our anniversary. I think it's a 3 day weekend. I don't want to spend a lot of money though and of course we'll have the kids with us as well.

So all of you who are married, what was your best anniversary gift?

We survived!

I guess it's a sign of adulthood that I'm a little glad Christmas is over for this year? Mostly I just want to take the darn tree down so I will stop finding ornaments all over the house. (Thank you Anthony, my little redistribution king.)

We had a great Christmas eve at my friend Kathy's house. I think my kids got almost as many toys there as they did at home on Christmas morning! Speaking of Kathy, it's her birthday today. So you should all go to her blog and harass her wish her a Happy Birthday. Anyway, it was a very nice evening. Then we came home and I was up until 3AM putting together the kitchen that Santa got the kids. Next year, Santa's on his own for assembly! LOL Everyone slept in though and we didn't get up to do presents until 9, which was a good thing considering Anthony was up and down all night. Poor kid does not do holidays and not going to bed in his bed on time very well. It tends to mess up his sleep for a few days afterwards.

Christmas morning was nice, Amelia loves the kitchen. Anthony loves the cleaning set my mom got them, he has been carrying around the broom ever since. Today I'm going to take the tree down and work on putting the house back together, I swear it was clean on Wednesday, not sure how it got trashed in one day!

Happy Holidays

I hope you all have a very merry Christmas, or a Happy Hanukkah or a merry Chrismahanukwanzakah.

Amelia and I had the funniest conversation earlier. It all started with her understanding of Christmas and Santa. Her first concern was the fact that we don't have snow. I told her we don't get snow at Christmas (Yes it's true, my child has never seen snow) but it's okay we still have Christmas. She persisted with the idea that we needed snow for Christmas. When I asked her why, she explained that Santa needs snow for his sled. If there is no snow, then his reindeer can't land with him and his sled on the roof. (She also pointed out that our roof is not flat so he couldn't land anyway. I skipped over that point.) I think I've finally convinced her that Santa will show up and she will get some presents for tomorrow. Right now all presents are in hiding in my room, Anthony is constantly trying to disassemble the tree I can only imagine what he would do with wrapped presents, so they won't come out until after bed tonight.

So anyway, I hope you all have a happy holiday! I'm going to eat good food and have a good time, and be ready to hit the treadmill the day after Christmas. :-)

So Sad

A baby I've never met passed away today, and it just about broke my heart. Her mom is a nanny from my SoCal nannies group. Kaia was born in August and started having some medical problems recently. When I read the email this morning to say she was gone , I burst into tears. I can not imagine losing one of my children. I just want to hug and snuggle them, and I can't even think what these parents are going through.

So if you're the praying sort, say a little prayer for them. And then hug your kids and hold them close because life is often way shorter than we had planned it to be.

Menu Plan Monday

This week is going to be a little short on the recipes since we're going out on Christmas Eve, and Christmas dinner will be at 1PM and then we'll have leftovers for dinner, and then I think we're going out on Saturday as well. So that only leaves Monday Tuesday and Friday this week since Sunday is usually just sandwiches or fend for yourself night.

It's just going to be the four of us on Christmas, so dinner is not going to be a big deal. We're having Ham,(at Jeff's request, it's not my favorite but it's easy!) mashed potatoes, salad, rolls and sweet potato casserole. I might make a pie for dessert but that seems like a lot of food already, so we'll see.
Christmas Morning I'm going to try this recipe for
Sausage Egg Casserole out, you prepare it all ahead of time and then just throw it in the oven when everyone wakes up Christmas morning.

Monday: Chicken pot pie, Salad

Tuesday: Pasta, Veggies, Salad

Wednesday: Christmas Eve

Thursday Christmas

Friday: Garlic Grilled Cheese, Sweet potato fries

Saturday: Pizza (We'll be out)

So yeah thats our menus for the week. Nothing too exciting around here. I'm off to grocery shop and go to costco with everyone else in Southern California. Eeep!

Why?

Why do apartments and condos have almost no indoor lighting? I do not understand why. Almost every apartment or condo I have lived in has been this way. We end up with 37 lamps floating around the house, and the kids pull them over, and knock them over on themselves. That's going to be one of the important criteria when I buy a house. It must have lights in the rooms! Okay bizarre rambling rant over now, go back to your regularly scheduled programs. :-)

Spam!

Are they trying to tell me something? I have gotten 3 emails today about the best diet pill on the market. LMAO Not sure if it's random after Christmas spam or if I'm just special. I haven't done so well the last few days on the food stuff, so I'm back to counting points today. We'll see Monday when I weigh in what the damage is. Hopefully I can get it back under control without too much of a gain. We'll see.

Vote for my kids!

So there are only a few days in this contest, and Jeff just entered the kids today, but it can't hurt to try.

Now what do I do?

Today has been a weird day. The kids slept in until 8 so instead of the regular getting up time of around 6, I got to sleep until almost 8. It's totally thrown off my whole day. Also not helping is the fact that my niece got a hold of her Mama's cell phone at 2 am and called my cell phone (conveniently placed 12 inches from my head on the night stand) repeatedly.

Anthony is napping and Amelia is coloring and it's just quiet around here. I have a few loads of laundry to do, and I need to mop the hardwood, but other than that, the house is fairly clean. (Can I just say how much I miss having cleaning people? I think it was worth getting pregnant just to not have to do the heavy cleaning for almost a year. )

I know what we're having for dinner (whole wheat pasta, Salad and baked sweet potatoes), and Amelia has had lunch. I don't have any bows that need to be made, Christmas shopping is done. There aren't any shows on the DVR that I can watch with Amelia awake. Now what do I do??? This may be the first time since I had Anthony I haven't had 37 things that needed to be done immediately. Weird.

ETA: Thirty seconds after I posted this Anthony woke up screaming, the laundry buzzed in the dryer and Amelia peed on the bathroom floor, so I guess things are back to normal.

Santa Clause is coming to town!

Amelia told me earlier today that Christmas can't come to our house because we haven't decorated yet. I guess I 'm not going to get away without a tree this year. Anthony is so into everything I figured he wouldn't leave it alone. I'll have to figure something out! :-)

MenuPlan Monday

Monday Cowboy Stew Haven't tried it before but it sounds good.

Tuesday Chicken , brown rice, salad veggies

Wednesday Tacos

Thursday Breakfast for dinner

Friday Pizza night (homemade)

Saturday Rice and beans

Sunday Hamburgers, sweet potato fries

Am I ready for this?

I did it. I signed Amelia up for preschool. I wasn't sure if we would get in or not; there were 3 spaces for January remaining when I called yesterday, but they hadn't done any of the registrations yet. So I called my dear husband at work and ,harassed him, threatened him, asked him nicely to fax everything over to them. And I just checked and they billed my credit card. So, I'm assuming that means we're in! They only notify you if you don't get in, which I think is not cool but whatever. So for 9 hours a week my kid will be in someone else's care. I will have to volunteer some in the class, so at least I'll be around, but I'm still a little nervous. However, I think she is more than ready. She is obsessed with the idea of school and she loves going to gymnastics. I think she will thrive in school once she gets used to it. Now I just have to get used to idea.

Tuesday, December 02, 2008

I'm home! :-)

I have a bunch of pictures to post, but right now I'm busy cleaning my house and making bows for a craft boutique tomorrow. Wish me luck, I have no idea what people want to buy or not, so I'm just making a bunch of different stuff.

Out of the office...

So we're going on vacation this week, so most of my weekly stuff won't be happening. No MPM or tackle it tuesday probably. We'll only be here a few nights for dinner so I'm not doing a big grocery shopping before we leave. And I have a bunch of krap I have to get done before I leave, so really I need to be doing stuff besides blogging. :-) Not sure if I'll blog while I"m gone or not, so everyone have a great holiday weekend. See you next week! :-)

Wednesday, November 19, 2008

So internet, I have an important question to ask you. How early is too early to send out Christmas cards? I like to start hanging them up at Thanksgiving when I decorate the house. But I'm not sure when the proper time to mail cards is. Mine are all ready to go (except for a few that I don't have addresses on yet) so they are going in the mail today. Yay me! :-)What about the rest of you? When do you send your cards?

Fires...

I'm beginning to dislike this time of year. I took these outside my house around noon today. It's really hot and dry and windy. The air quality is pretty krappy.

Have you ever tried to take a decent picture of two children? It's impossible!. First you get a cute shot of the youngest all lined up, then big sister jumps in as you hit the button. You get a blurry mess like this

Photo Sharing - Video Sharing - Photo Printing - Photo Books

Then the sister gets mad because you're taking a picture of her brother so she stands next to him making weird faces and trying to block him from getting his picture taken.

After you get Amelia to calm down, then Anthony goes crazy and decides he needs to eat the camera, which results in this picture.

I'm not even sure what prompted this picture.

To do

It seems like I always have a huge to do list. What's up with that? I guess it's just part of being a Mom. The house always needs to be cleaned, the laundry is never finished, and I still haven't figured out a way to neglect it all so I can get caught up on my scrapbooking. So anyway, here's my to do list for today, what's yours look like?

ETA Okay so I had to carry this over to today, but I'm most of the way through it.

Finish and mail thank you cards
Mop the kitchen floor
Laundry
Laundry
Laundry
Laundry
Laundry ( I want to get 5 loads done today)
Pick up kids room
Vacuum kids room
Scrub the kitchen cabinet
Clean kids bathroom
List junk on freecycle.
Order ribbon for bows
Buy stamps
Finish addressing Christmas cards.
Scrub down Anthony's high chair
Use wood cleaner on dining room chairs. (How do they get soooo dirty so fast? Darn kids! LOL)
Clean out the van

not so Wordless Wednesday

I wanted to do this last week, but I didn't get that far. These are the pictures I took of my kids when they announced the winner of the presidential election. There are always those times when people look back and remember what they were doing when something huge happened. Like when the space shuttle Challenger exploded ( I was in kindergarten and Mr. Bell came in and told our teacher, then she told us), or when the planes hit the towers on 9/11.

Did you play? Leave me a comment and I'll visit your WW.

Tackle it Tuesday/ Monthly Round Up

Today's post is going to serve two purposes. It's going to kick off my participation in the Monthly Round up at Orgjunkie.com, and it's going to show my Tackle it Tuesday. I'm posting my before pictures today, and let me tell you, it's bad. The plan this month is to organize our laundry rooms. I don't have a laundry room really, it's just an area in my garage. It also happens to be the entry way into the house if you're entering through the garage, which we do. I'll be working on this project all month.

I have a huge pile of clothes that don't fit anyone that I need to deal with (send them to goodwill, or another Mom from playgroup, or put them out for the kids, some are still too big.) The cabinets over the Washer and Dryer need to be organized and everything needs a good cleaning. I'm sure you can see the huge mound of junk on top of the Washer and Dryer too. Because the soccer ball should really be stored in the same place as the clean bumper for Anthony's crib right? Right! LOL

I'll post an update each Tuesday this month.

Okay so this is a little embarassing, here's my before pictures...

Menu Plan Monday

Last weeks menus went well. I have figured out that Thursday nights don't work well for me cooking dinner, we don't get home from gymnastics until 530 or so. The kids and I will probably hit Chick Fil A on the way home or eat out of the freezer, so Jeff's on his own. I tried to convince him to plan something to cook for all of us for dinner but I don't think he likes that plan. LOL

The pesto Chicken from last week was so yummy, we're having it again tonight! ANd yes I know my menu says veggies every night, but I dont usually plan out what veggies to go with each meal, I just throw out whatever I've got in the fridge or freezer.

Monday: Pesto Chicken, Veggies, Fruit

Tuesday: Steak, Baked potatoes, veggies

Wednesday: Ham and Broccoli quiche

Thursday: Fend for yourself night

Friday: Breakfast for dinner

Saturday: Pork Chops, Broccoli, Veggies

Sunday: Grilled Cheese and soup

Well Krap

I had a post that was scheduled to go up yesterday (the 6th) and it didn't work. And apparently m post from the 5th never showed up either. What the heck? So I guess I already screwed up the 30 posts in 30 days thing. Unless of course, you count the fact that on a few days, there was more than one post. That has to count for something right? I guess I need to stop trying to schedule posts the night before.

I'm off to figure out why my blog posts are not showing up properly. Hopefully this one goes up.

We won!

NBC is calling Senator Barack Obama the 44th president of the United States. Woohoo!
Today is one of those days where I truly struggle to be a good Mom to my kids. Amelia is a very high energy child. She generally needs to be constantly engaged in something or she finds trouble, and she finds it quickly.

I have 37 things I need/want to get done today, some laundry, scrubbing my kitchen floors, etc, but seriously I cannot get anything done. Every time I turn my back she is into something else. Or she's trying to beat up her brother, or she's running off with my cell phone trying to call Daddy, or she's hitting me or she's throwing things at the TV, or she is smearing hand soap all over the TV, or she's taking the gate down to let Ant into the kitchen. (This all happened in a one hour span today.) So I'm sitting at my computer taking a break. I told Amelia I was putting myself in time out. :-)

Now she's trying to figure out how to get the screen door unlocked so she can let her brother outside. So, I'm going to turn on a movie, put Anthony down for a nap and go sit on the couch and snuggle my kid. Hopefully Jeff will understand why the house isn't much cleaner now than it was when he left this morning, and there are only 2 loads of laundry done. If not, he can stay home with them tomorrow and I'll go work in the IT department. I bet it's easy compared to being home all day with my children!! LOL

Vote!!

If you are an American citizen, get your butt out there and vote today! I'm not going to tell you who to vote for *cough cough* Obama *cough cough* but seriously. GO VOTE! If you don't you can't complain about who wins or loses!

Jeff and I will be going with the kids when he gets home from work. That should be fun!

Menu Plan Monday

Here we go again. :-)

Monday: Baked Pesto Chicken, Brown Rice, Salad

Tuesday: Slow Cooker Meatloaf, Baked Potatoes Veggies

Wednesday: Hamburgers, Sweet Potato Fries, Veggies

Thursday: Breakfast for Dinner

Friday: Home made Pizza, salad, veggies

Saturday: Chili, corn bread and veggies

Sunday

Day 2 of 30 days of posts!

I'm off to the gym this morning, I'm hoping it's not as busy as it was yesterday. I went at 10 and it was packed! I figured it would be slower on the weekend, guess not. So since I'm not writing much today, I'm going to leave you with a plea to do something good for someone else. My friend Steph has a post up on her blog that can tell you the whole story, but it's about a little girl who could really use your help. So go visit her blog here and see what you can do, either financially or in some other way. I donated, and I was thinking I'd send her some bows or something.

NaBloPoMo

It's National Blog Posting Month! which of course gets shortened to NaBloPoMo(try saying that ten times fast!) The goal of NaBloPoMo, is to post every day for 30 days. Last year I set out to do it, but I don't think I made it. The fact that I had a new baby didn't help I'm sure. So anyway, I'll be posting every day for the month of November. Now I just have to come up with 29 more things to talk about...

How bizarre!

One of my neighbors has a guy who stays over occasionally. I'm not sure if he lives there or not. The guy is currently standing in her garage with the door open. If he took another step he would be out in our shared driveway. He's standing there in a pair of tighty whiteys and some running shoes. And he's holding a plate and apparently he's eating his breakfast. In between sticking his hands in his underwear to adjust himself. Amelia spotted him first and said "Mommy, why is he outside in his panties? You're not supposed to go outside in only panties. Where's his Mommy?"

I'm still not sure what to say to that. I did close our curtains though...

Tackle It Tuesday!

Tackle It Tuesday Meme

It's been a while, but I'm trying to get back to doing this project weekly, I really like seeing the results when it's all done. :-) I don't have pictures this week, although I did finally upload some pictures from Anthony's birthday, come back tomorrow to see those!

My project this week is my floors. We only have carpet in the bedrooms, the rest of the house is mostly wood. I try and do a quick mop job once a week, but what it really needs is a good on hands and knees scrubbing. So, that's what Amelia and I are tackling today! You can go visit 5 minutes for mom to see more Tackle It Tuesdays.

Did you play? Leave me a comment if you did! :-)

Monday ramblings.

I'm watching a new show today. It's called The Mentalist and its actual okay. I don't watch TV much these days, but I do like this show. It's been really warm here lately, although it supposed to cool off this weekend. I hope so. The kids room is the hottest, along with the kitchen, they both get a lot of afternoon sun. Jeff keeps talking about getting some bamboo shades to hang over the windows on that side of the house, but I'm not sure how I feel about that. I don't really want to lose the sunlight, I think it would feel like a cave in here even more than it already does. Oh well if I just agree to it, he'll probably forget about it when the weather cools off anyway. :-)

Friday Rambling

I should be cleaning my house, but there are about 30 other things I'd rather be doing. So instead I'm sitting here cutting out coupons and listening to my kids fight. Seriously, they are 1 and 3, aren't they supposed to wait until they are closer to the teenage years before they start fighting?

The ad on my email program is for acne pills. How is a pill going to help make your skin clear? I've never really understood that. Ugh, Amelia just smacked Anthony, I guess I better go referee the fight.

Hey Kathy

Check out this video.

And just in case anyone is unsure how I'm going to vote..

Until today, I had no idea all of the well known people making their opinions known on prop 8. In 5 minutes on you tube, I found Margaret Cho, Molly Ringwald, Ellen, a bunch of other people, and some hilarious Mac commercial spoofs.

I will never be okay with discriminating against someone because they like men instead of women or vice versa. Everyone should be able to get married. I'm okay with my kids learning in school that being gay is acceptable. It's people's fears and stupidity that lead to hating in my opinion. (Not to mention if you're really worried about it, you can have your children not be present for any sex ed classes so that's not even a valid complaint as far as I'm concerned.)

The shoes

So a few people have asked about the shoes in my last post, so here are a few pictures. Weird huh?

Saturday

I love October in SoCal. The weather has started to cool off a little and we can actually get out and do more stuff during the day. Jeff and I took the kids for a walk this morning, Amelia had a great time checking out the halloween decorations on people's houses. Speaking of walking I saw the weirdest thing the other day. They are called MBT shoes. They are really bizarre looking, but I guess they are really good for your feet. I'm still not sure i would wear them. Anyone out there tried them? I saw someone wearing them at the mall, but I've never seen them being sold somewhere.

Friday Fillins

1. Follow the yellow brick road.
2. My children is something I always take with me on vacation.
3. To achieve your goals, you must know what your goals are.
4. I'm getting awfully close to 30 and that scares me is something I'd like you to know about me.
5. I have a big headache.
6. I like cream soda floats.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to staying home, my kid's sick, tomorrow my plans include hanging out with my family and running errands and Sunday, I want to have everyone be well so we can go to a halloween party!

Did you play??

Sick again.

So it looks like we're sick again (or still) not sure which. It seems like we start to get better and then within a few days it's yucky again. We have a bunch of stuff we were supposed to do today, including Chuck E cheese this morning, and now Anthony woke up all grouchy and snotty. Poor baby. He is not a good sick kid. He wants to be held all day long when he's not feeling well. On one hand thats not so bad since he's normally not a snuggly baby, but still, I rather not get to hold him all day because he's miserable. So I guess we're all staying home today. Hopefully he's better by Sunday, we have a halloween party to go to.

Energy

I am constantly amazed at the energy level of a three year old. Seriously, my kid goes all day long and never stops. I think if we got her a hamster wheel she would just run all day long. I wonder if they make exercise bikes that you can hook up to power your house? I have the answer to all of our energy problems. We let the kids burn off some excess energry before bed, and get a break from the power bill at the same time!

No idea why I'm off on this tangent today other than Amelia is crazy and full of energy today. I think she is really missing the Grandmas, they flew home last night. The kids and I are off to costco now, woohoo! Who doesn't love Costco! :-) Must not drain the bank account for random krap we don't need. Maybe I can feed the kids samples for lunch. LOL

What's love got to do with it?

I had the best time tonight! My mom and I went to a concert. I was pleasantly surprised, at the age of 68, Tina Turner can still rock. I don't get to do a lot of stuff with my mom, so this was something cool that we got to share together. I'm really happy we went. The show was great too, it was quite a production. I took a few pictures with my cell phone but they were pretty krappy, no HDTV or anything here. LOL

Posting

So I think I'm going to start doing the paid blog posts for a while again. It would be really nice to have some extra $$ for Christmas, and I try not to use credit cards at all this time of year. SO anyway, just thought I'd give you all a warning that there may be some extra posts here and there in my blog. If you're offended feel free to leave and come back in mid December. I promise not to do a ton of extra post just a bit.

I can not believe how close it is until Christmas! I need to get my bearings, and get my lists of presents to buy all ready. It seems like the amount of people I have to buy for goes up exponentially each year!

Holy Meltdowns Batman!

My daughter is currently laying in the middle of the floor screaming at the top of her lungs. Why you ask? Well it started off with what I thought was a simple request. I should have known better. I just asked her to get dressed. That's all. I even let her pick out each item once I figured out that matching was not going to happen today. So from the undies to the jeans to the sweater dress to the mismatched shoes, each item was hand selected by Amelia with no input from dear old Mom. You'd think that would help her want to wear the outfit. of course that's not going to happen. She thinks a green froggy towel is a perfectly acceptable outfit to wear to playgroup and then to the OC airport to pick up the Grandma's. I love my kid and I know my friends and their kids would like to see us today. However, I don't think seeing her bare butt would make anyone happy. So here I sit trying to regain my composure while I prepare to do battle again. Really, it's not a big deal if we skip playgroup, they all understand. However I don't think my mom and grandma will understand if we skip the airport. And I refuse to take a buck naked kid into the airport. (Or let her ride in my car that way.) So wish me luck. And if this blog gets neglected for too long, you can assume I've given up the fight and I'm laying on the floor with her, screaming my lungs out. Cause seriously, if you can't beat em, join em!

I love my husband. That's all I came here to say. Back to your regularly scheduled programs and have a nice day. :-)
So it's early, and of course the kids are up and ready to go. AMelia had me call my mom at 630 to see if she was ready for us to come pick her up! Poor kid was already dressed, had eaten breakfast and had her shoes on. i guess she likes having Grandma here to visit. So for some reason, thinking about all that made me think about DNA testing. Seriously! I wonder if you went around and tested the general population, how many of the people would be surprised to find out who their real family is. How often do people have children, and not tell everyone involved who the real players are. Yes I know I'm a nut. But really, these are the things i think about while I'm feeding my kids...

Firsts...

Who was your FIRST prom date? I never went to a prom with a date. I went with my friends.

Do you still talk to your FIRST love? Nope.

What was your FIRST alcoholic drink? I remember sneaking drinks from my Dad's beer when I was little.

What was your FIRST job? I worked at Heenan's Burnt Finger BBQ in Seaview, WA

What was your FIRST car? 83 Subaru Station Wagon

Who was your FIRST grade teacher? I had two because me moved. The first one was Mrs. Pomeroy, then I had Mrs. Paige after we moved.

Where did you go on your FIRST ride on an airplane? Flew from PDX to Sacramento. We were going to see Family in Oroville. It was my sister and I by ourselves. I was 12 I think.

Who was your FIRST best friend and are you still friends with them? Marcie. We were friends in Kindergarten. I found her on myspace recently but we live in different states.

What was your FIRST sport played? Never really played sports unless I had to in P.E.

Where was your FIRST sleep over? I had my first slumber party when I was 8. It was a disaster as far as my mom was concerned, but we had fun!

Whose wedding were you in the FIRST time? My sisters wedding. I was her maid of honor. :-)

What was the FIRST thing you did this morning? Wonder why my kids wake up so early.

What was the FIRST concert you ever went to? I have to agree with brianna, i'm pretty sure I went to some concert in utero.

FIRST tattoo or piercing? No tats, I have 3 piercings in each ear, the first was when I was 8.

FIRST foreign country you went to for vacation? Never left the states!

What was your FIRST run in with the law? Never really had one.

When was your FIRST detention? I had lots of them. Especially in Jr. High...

What was the FIRST state you lived in? Oregon

Who was the FIRST person to break your heart? Some dumb boy. Doesn't matter anymore and what you survive makes you stronger right? I can't even remember who it was now.

Who was your FIRST roommate? I guess Bryn, I moved in with her when I was in high school. My first room mate as an adult was a bunch of people, I lived with Tommy and Tami and Peanut and Sky and a crazy old lady named Suzie. It was insane, but I had a lot of fun. It was one of the better times in my life. :-)

Where did you go on your FIRST limo ride? I don't remember ever riding in one.

Who will be the FIRST to repost this?I don't know. a bunch of people have already done it. :-)

junk

Um yeah. So we finally, finally got rid of our storage unit. Yippee! Too bad all that krap is now piled in my garage. Although really, there was a lot of stuff piled in there before so I'm not sure anyone else could tell the difference. Seriously though, why do we keep all this junk? I know things like elementary school football trophies are really important, as are pieces of broken furniture that once belonged to a family member.

Random stuff

Amelia just ran screaming through the house. "He's gonna get me Mommy! He's so scary." Then she hopped in my lap and said "save me Mommy." When i asked who she needed to be saved from, the reply was simple, " The gardener is going to get me!" Leave it to my kid to run screaming through the house because there is a gardener in our front yard. Silly kid.

My mom and Grandma are arriving tomorrow. I'm soooo excited! I can't wait to see them. We're going to do a bunch of the regular random tourist stuff, go to Hollywood, go to the pier in HB and then on Tuesday night my mom and I are going to a concert. Woohoo. we're also going to have a little family birthday party for Anthony. I can not believe my little man is going to be 1 soon.

And sometime in the next couple of weeks, I need to look for some office furniture. We really need a new desk.

What's for dinner?

I love cooking. Too bad I hate the cleanup! I've been trying out more new recipes lately, although I'm always looking for more. I love checking allrecpes.com for new Italian recipes. As long as there aren't too many veggies involved it seems to be Jeff's favorite food. I also really like doing menu planning. It makes life so much simpler to have the whole weeks worth of dinners planned out. So internet, whats your favorite recipe. I'd love to hear what your favorite dinner recipe is.

The joys of Costco.

The kids and I went to Costco today. I am so happy that things are finally easy again with two kids. Anthony is out of the baby stage and more into the toddler stage and it's just so much easier to do stuff with him. Amelia had a blast at Costco, apparently it's right up there with Kathy's house as the fun place to go. :-) I love that you can find a jumbo sized anything at Costco. You can probably get a small business franchise there too. LOL We perused the toy aisle and Amelia was in heaven! They have her Christmas present there, I think we're getting them a play kitchen. It's pretty nice and I like that it's wood not plastic.

hmm

Finally I am starting to feel better. It seems like we have all been sick for days and weeks and months! Not sure what the deal is but we just keep getting sick over and over again. I feel like I've been living on diet coke and nyquil. Nice huh? Probably not the healthiest way to go. LOL So we've recently discovered that we don't have all the pieces necessary to make Amelia's bed turn into bunk beds again. It figures, I guess our discount furniture wasn't such a good deal after all. I'm sure it had all the pieces originally, but they didn't get put up and now who knows where they are. Oh well, I don't think Jeff likes the idea of bunk beds anyway. He seems really concerned that Amelia will get hurt on them. Which is a definite possibility. Although really she can hurt herself on just about anything. LOL

Wednesday Ramblings

I have 37 other things I should be doing right now, but instead I'm hiding in my room for 5 minutes with my laptop. I'm sure the kids will probably destroy the house in the 5 minutes, but hey, at least maybe I'll be a little more sane than I was previously. Actually they are both sitting in Anthony's crib, Amelia says she is rescuing Dora from the crocodiles and Anthony is just laughing at her. Everyone in this house (except for me) is sick. Poor Jeff is making it to work, but as soon as he gets home he goes to bed. Neither kid is sleeping well due to the snot constantly exiting their noses so Mommy is tired too.

My mom is coming to visit in less than two weeks, I really need to get my house up to par. I know that it shouldn't matter, but really, it does.

I have a birthday party for a 1 year old to plan. Now you would probably think that this isn't a big deal but it is. First birthdays are a big deal to me for some reason. And since we don't have family around we do parties with our friends.

I've decided to start doing a little homeschool preschool program with Amelia. She is obsessed with school and I think this will give her something to do each day that is just for her and Mommy, no little brothers involved.

Anthony is on the verge of walking. He could do it if he wanted to, he just doesn't want to much yet. He is very strong and has good balance, but just doesn't want to let go.

Today is the second week of a class I signed up for with Amelia and again, we can't go. I don't want to drag sick kids to the class, but it still sucks that we are missing the class again.

I just bought a bunch of clothes on eBay for my kids. I am in love with eBay. I bought all stuff new with tags, but soooo much cheaper than in the stores. Mostly I'm buying gymboree stuff at Walmart prices. Can't complain about that. If my kids would stop growing taller they wouldn't need clothes so often. Okay my five minutes are up, off I go to change a poopy diaper and bathe my children.

Monday, September 22, 2008

I am loving the weather today. It's not hot! There is a nice breeze and I don't need the AC on. I'm not sure I could handle the weather where I grew up ever again, but I do miss the cooler weather. I'm always excited for winter to arrive around here. In a few more months we might even get some rain! I don't know the last time we had rain...

So Funny....

Tackle it Tuesday

I don't have any pictures (darn camera is still not cooperating with me about downloading pictures.) My tackle today is the kids' clothes. I am working my way through all of their clothes taking out the baskets of stuff that's too small. I'm also reorganizing their dressers and the closet. I have so many little boy clothes from Anthony, I have to figure out what to do with them. I wonder if baby clothes would sell at a yard sale? We're having one next week. I guess I can just donate whatever is left over.

If you want to see more Tackle it Tuesdays, go see visit 5 Minutes For Mom.

Friday Fill ins

I stole this from Brianna.

Those of you with multiple blogs or private blogs...if you could add a link to your blog when you comment, that would be GREAT!

And...here we go!

1. I enjoy sleeping.

2. What my dad would think about having a grandson is something I wonder about often lately.

3. In your heart, you knew you were going.

4. Take Amelia, add a little water and dish soap and a few dishes in the sink and you end up with a mess, and a very happy entertained kid. (totally worth the mess!!)

5. Life has gifted me with two amazing children, things are never ever boring at my house.

6. Sleeping in is an instant vacation.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to having a nice night, without anyone having to get up at 5 for work, tomorrow my plans include a birthday party and Sunday, I want to sleep in (are you noticing a theme in my life? I need more sleep lol)!

WTF

Maybe it's just me, but this is just bizarre. Bill Gates, Jerry Seinfeld and shoe shopping with a churro? What a combination.

Thursday, September 11, 2008

My sister has 3 girls. Dorothy 5, Emma 3 and Lilly 2. This morning Amelia decided that we were going to pretend to be her cousins. She assigned us each a role, then had me call Grandma so she could tell her about it. All day she has been in character as Dorothy. She calls me Aunt Sarah-Mommy. She informed Jeff that he is now called Emma. Anthony is now going by the name Lilly. Poor kid has to be confused, as he crawls along behind his sister she says "Come on Lilly. Good boy Lilly!" Did I mention she talks to her brother like he's her little puppy dog? Oh and any time I speak to Amelia/Dorothy I have to call her Dorothy or she won't answer. We've been doing this for about 10 hours now, I wonder how much longer we'll last???

Nope, my son's not going to have a complex. Not at all!

Random

Today we went to the community center to register Amelia and her friend for some mommy and me classes. After we got all registered we walked out to our cars to go home. While I'm putting Anthony in the car, my friend says, "There's a naked guy in the parking lot." Of course I looked before thought about it, not at all what I wanted to see. Some guy was standing with his car door open and no pants on. I think maybe he was changing his pants in the parking lot or something? I've seen homeless people doing stuff like that at other parks. It was an older car, it looked like it had a bunch of stuff in it. Really, I was trying not to look too hard since there was a naked guy there.

A few weeks ago we went to the International street festival in Orange. The first thing we noticed after arriving was the large amount of cops. The second thing I noticed was most of them were from the Gang unit. I wasn't sure if I should be happy about the large gang unit presence or scared.

I swear I don't live in the ghetto!

Saturday, September 06, 2008

Sometimes my kids crack me up. Amelia is obsessed with birthdays and who is having the next birthday. She knows that Anthony's birthday is coming next, then hers, then mine, then Jeff's. Tonight she told me her happy birthday party was next. I told her no, it was going to be Anthony's birthday before hers. Her response was "No mommy. I had a birthday party in my room for Anthony today. He doesn't need another birthday. It's mine next."

I'm not sure why this amused me so much but it did.

Did I mention it's 1030 and she is still awake? Thats what happens when she naps at 5 pm...

What's my name again?

What Stephanie Means

You are the total package - suave, sexy, smart, and strong.

You have the whole world under your spell, and you can influence almost everyone you know.

You don't always resist your urges to crush the weak. Just remember, they don't have as much going for them as you do.

You are a seeker. You often find yourself restless - and you have a lot of questions about life.

You tend to travel often, to fairly random locations. You're most comfortable when you're far away from home.

You are quite passionate and easily tempted. Your impulses sometimes get you into trouble.

You are friendly, charming, and warm. You get along with almost everyone.

You work hard not to rock the boat. Your easy going attitude brings people together.

At times, you can be a little flaky and irresponsible. But for the important things, you pull it together.

You are influential and persuasive. You tend to have a lot of power over people.

Generally, you use your powers for good. You excel at solving other people's problems.

Occasionally, you do get a little selfish and persuade people to do things that are only in your interest.

You are truly an original person. You have amazing ideas, and the power to carry them out.

Success comes rather easily for you... especially in business and academia.

Some people find you to be selfish and a bit overbearing. You're a strong person.

You are usually the best at everything ... you strive for perfection.

You are confident, authoritative, and aggressive.

You have the classic "Type A" personality.

You are very intuitive and wise. You understand the world better than most people.

You also have a very active imagination. You often get carried away with your thoughts.

You are prone to a little paranoia and jealousy. You sometimes go overboard in interpreting signals.

You tend to be pretty tightly wound. It's easy to get you excited... which can be a good or bad thing.

You have a lot of enthusiasm, but it fades rather quickly. You don't stick with any one thing for very long.

You have the drive to accomplish a lot in a short amount of time. Your biggest problem is making sure you finish the projects you start.

quiet time!

Today, my house is peaceful. Anthony is napping. Amelia is watching cartoons. I'm having my quiet time and playing on the puter. We're having turkey meatloaf for dinner tonight, it's in the Crockpot cooking. I love the Crockpot. Well, until I have to scrub it out, then I'm not so in love with it.

This weekend is the international street fair in Orange and I think we're actually going to go this year! I wanted to go last year but I was 7 months pregnant and it was about 105 degrees out that weekend, so Jeff was not into going. Hopefully this year will be better.

Someone sent me a link for a wine of the month club. I thought it was pretty funny since I generally consume alcohol about 3 times a year and then it's usually margaritas, not wine. Oh well.

Wicked

Last night we had a mom's night out and went to see Wicked at the Pantages in LA. I had such a great time.

We carpooled up to Hollywood and Highland in the minivan. We had the CarBitch (Erin's navigation system) to help the navigation, but I think that may have confused me more. Dinner was at Twist. I spent more on alcohol than I did on food (what's up with $13 drinks??) but it was worth it. We were all a little tipsy by the time we left for the theater. Due to the amount of alcohol consumed and the height of my heels, I was all for the shuttle.

The show was amazing. We had great seats. (Thanks Kathy!! :-) ) I would definitely go see it again. If you're not familiar with Wicked, it's based on a book, and it tells the other side of the story of the Wizard of Oz. So after the show, we took the shuttle back to the mall and headed home. We did learn that it takes a few mommy's to figure out how to open the doors on a minivan. I don't think they ever did figure out to work some of the seatbelts in the back of the van. LOL All in all it was a great night, and there was some talk of a weekend in Vegas. Now that would be fun!!

shhh

It's Thursday today. Both of my kids are napping. This so never happens. It's weird! Oh krap Anthony must have heard me sit down, cause he just started crying. How do the kids know the second you decide to rest? Oh well maybe when they are older, ya know sometime after they get over acne life will calm down a bit and I can have some free time. :-)

Spammers

So those spammers are getting better. I just opened an email that was spam! Most of the time that stuff doesn't even make it to my inbox, (thank you google!!) but this not only made it there, I thought it was from someone I knew and opened it. Too bad I don't need a truck accident lawyer. If I ever get into an accident with a semi, I guess I would know who to call!

#1

I have 8 blogs to write. That's a lot. This particular one is about diet pills. Not sure what to say about hose other than I don't think they are a good thing.

Jeff is trying to put Anthony to bed again. Poor baby woke up (it's almost 10 pm), pooped, then he was mad that he was awake and poopy. It sounds like he is quieting down now though.

Tuesday, August 05, 2008

Hmm

I have all these things I would like to blog about, but so many people read my blog now that I feel weird talking about a lot of that stuff. By the way I mean people I know, people in my family and such. Isn't it funny that I'm cool sharing my drama with friends and people I don't know, but get a little creeped out at the thought of other people lurking here and reading?

Maybe I need one blog for pictures of the grandkids, and another for me to bitch about whatever I feel like bitching about on that particular day? LOL

We're supposed to go my friend Tiffeny's house to swim today but her kids are sick. Amelia is not happy with me.

Two weekends in a row I got to go out kid free. I even had my first ever whole night with no children!! It was only the second time I've been away from Amelia all night ( the first time was the two nights in the hospital when I had Anthony.)

A few weekends ago we had a sleepover for one of my groups. All of us girls spent the night at one girl's apartment in LA. The evening involved a lot of mimosas and margaritas, as well as drunken karaoke, leftovers from some bigwig party in Brentwood and a really drunken game of taboo. I'm not sure it qualified as an actual game though since there weren't many rules followed and we kept forgetting to watch the timer. It was fun though. When I finally awoke the next morning and drug my sorry ass off of Beth's couch, my eyelids felt like they were glued shut and full of sand, and my head was trying very hard to explode. The best part was when I checked my phone a mere 5 minutes after stumbling back from the bathroom, and found 7 missed calls from my husband. Was anyone bleeding? Nope. Was anyone sick? Nope. Had our house burned down? Wrong again. Jeff was tired. And he wanted to know when I was coming home so he could nap. LMAO I love my husband.

Friday night I got to go out again without the kids. I went to LA for a jewelry party. The jewelry was really nice and it was great to visit with a few friends I hadn't seen in a long time. The funny part though was pretty much everyone at the party except for me and another lady were fluent in Spanish. And a couple of he older ladies don't speak much English. So the woman who was showing us the jewelry kept going back to Spanish and then she would come talk to me and Yvonne and we'd just look at her. I get about every 3rd word, ( hey it was good practice right? I should go visit them more often!!) but it was still pretty funny. I think we had the poor lady a little frazzled. LMAO But hey I got new jewelry, had some great drinks and delicious tiramisu. All in all it was a good night.

OKay I had more stuff I was going to ramble on about, but the natives are getting restless. Maybe I'll be back later.

Friday, August 01, 2008

It's Friday.

So today is one of those days where I have to write 37 (or 9 really) posts because I haven't been keeping up with them like I should be. But thats okay because I'm in the mood to write today. Anthony is asleep and Amelia is curled up with me watching Finding Nemo. My house is a mess but we have clean laundry to put away and a fridge full of groceries, and both kids are in clean clothes and have been bathed in the last 12 hours. I guess I'm not such a bad Mommy today. :-) Amelia just told me we need to buy 3 swing sets. Silly girl. First we need a yard big enough for a swing set!

Thursday, July 31, 2008

Now what?

Okay so now I'm going to talk about a power steering rack. What the heck is that? I don't know.

Amelia is trying to help me type. She knows most of the letters now, so she to point out the letters and tell me about them. Things like "that's the A, thats in my name. My name is Amelia. A is in my Amelia name two times!" (She just told me that.) Silly kid. Definitely never boring around here.

sick again.

What is Progress lighting? I have no idea, but I'm writing about it anyway.

Today is Thursday. Everyone in my house is sick again(still) depending how you look at it. I've really had enough of all these illnesses we keep getting, but I'm not sure how to get rid of it. It's the summer I thought all these sicknesses were supposed to go around in the winter?

Time to move

I don't like California anymore. We just had a 5.8 earthquake centered about 10 miles from us. It started off with a big jolt then a swaying. Amelia was in the kitchen and Anthony was asleep. It woke him up and Amelia freaked out. Poor baby is still sitting in my lap. We called and talked to my mom (mostly to calm me down) and Amelia told her "Grandma, the house was shaking! But Mommy saved me." But now she's scared that the house will shake again.

We've felt one aftershock so far...

Friday, July 25, 2008

Uh OH

Amelia just cut her hair. She has always had a lot of hair and it grows quickly. We've cut it a bunch of times and it's almost to her waist. Well, it was until about 15 minutes ago. Now most of it is to her waist and one big chunk is above her shoulders. I guess we're getting her hair cut tomorrow....

Random stuff

Whoever thought having a microwave mounted over the stove was a good idea, obviously was never a short person trying to scrub the thing out. I practically had to climb on top of the stove to get to the back of the microwave.

Have I mentioned lately that I miss having cleaning people come to my house??? LOL I think this is the first time I've really had to scrub out the microwave myself since it was installed almost a year ago.

Jeff and Amelia are at the beach. Anthony is napping. I am cleaning. It's so nice to clean without little people helping me. Maybe next week, all three of them will go do something fun! :-) Oh wait never mind, next weekend, I get to go to L.A. WITH NO CHILDREN and have a nanny night out. The fact that I am no longer a nanny is irrelevant. Half the nannies in the group are retired.
It's Sunday morning. Jeff's still sleeping. Amelia is playing with a roll of aluminum foil (don't ask) and Anthony is pulling himself up on one of his toys. He's going to be cruising and then walking before long.

Jeff and one of his buddies went to watch a fight last night, so I got to have an evening to myself. It was nice. I forget sometimes how much I need that quiet alone time. Okay so I only got an hour between when the kids went to bed and Jeff got home, but it was still nice. I think we're going to HB today to play at the beach, although right now it's pretty cloudy. Maybe we'll go this afternoon.

Amelia is so funny. She has unrolled almost a whole roll of foil, and laid it out across the living room floor. Now she is being a train and following the tracks. Anthony is fascinated with watching his big sister.

I'm back

So I've decided I'm back to blogging. I'm going to try and keep this updated a little more often. I am going to start putting up more pictures of my kids again. I also need to start posting more about what's going on with them, I love going back to read about things Amelia did as a baby. I started this blog when I was pregnant with her. I'm glad I've kept it up since I haven't been so good at keeping up the baby books.

It's 10:48 PM and Amelia is still awake. She has had no sugar or caffeine. No big naps or anything today. We did the normal bedtime stuff and nothing is working. I think I'm going to fall asleep before she does, which if you know Amelia and how much trouble she can get into, you know that's bad. Must. Not. Fall. Asleep. Before. Amelia.

Anyone else noticed I'm talking about sleep a lot lately?? I need to get a life and find something better to blog about.

It's oh so quiet

I love how peaceful my house is when everyone is asleep. Amelia had a bad dream and is curled up in my lap sleeping. Anthony is in his crib asleep. I can hear Jeff in the other room sleeping too. I really should go to bed, but sometimes it's nice to have some quiet alone time.

Now if I could just get some quiet time that's not in the middle of the night, it would be all good!

I should probably go put Amelia back in her bed now...

My kids are out to get me...

Amelia didn't go to bed until 11 PM tonight. 10 minutes after she was in bed, Anthony woke up. He's still awake, sitting in my lap while I type. Jeff's been a little irritated with me not sleeping well lately, so he's gonna complain in the morning when I want to sleep in... Maybe I should let him do night duty with Amelia. I have to get these kids on the same schedule. Amelia has turned into a night owl being ready for bed around 9,then Anthony is up at 5 or so most mornings. Today Amelia took a nap so that's why she wouldn't go to sleep. Poor kid was so tired, but was totally fighting it. She finally passed out in my lap with her pillow and blankie. Now if I could just convince the baby in my lap that he's tired. OH well, at least he's cute when he's trying to chew on my nose...

Overheard...

"Mommy, can I have some ice cream?"

"No."

"Please?"

"No."

"Daddy says I can have ice cream."

"Then talk to Daddy, Mommy said no ice cream."

*runs to the other room where Daddy is*

"Daddy, Daddy! Can I have ice cream?"

"What did Mommy say?"

"Mommy said Yes!"

She's already playing us. I'm gonna be in so much trouble when she is a teenager...

Reading time

Due to being sick and being on vacation at my Mom's house, I've been reading a lot lately. My new favorite books are the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich. The books tell the tale of a 30 year old bounty hunter named Stephanie Plum. She is a little bit nutty, a whole lot stubborn, and she is always finding herself in a new mess involving stun guns, blowing up a car, or diving in garbage. When you mix in the two men she loves, her crazy family and even crazier friends, you can't stop from laughing. I love that these books are generally pretty funny and light hearted, and that they still usually have a mystery of some sort. If you're looking for a nice quick read, without a really dark tone(most of the time anyway,) these books are for you. The new one comes out on Tuesday, and I'm trying to decide if I should go buy it then, or wait for it to show up at the used bookstore or on paperback swap. Too bad I don't do patient very well...

Anyone else out there read these books? Just wondering why I've never heard of them before.

Decisions

I have been pretty absent from my blog lately, and I'm not sure if that will change in the near future or not. I am just not as into it as I once was. I haven't been reading my friends blogs as often as I'd like either. I think maybe some of the paid posts made it more of a chore to blog, and less of something fun. Speaking of which, I have a bunch of posts that have to be written today, so um, just bare with me okay? I'll decide soon what I'm going to do, if I'm going to continue posting or shut down this blog or leave it as is. We'll see.

I thought once I got my new laptop computer I would be into blogging more, but I still don't have time.
