Ugh

The illness in the house has spread. Now we are all in some stage of this icky cold or flu or whatever it is. I'm not sure who has it worse, Jeff having to go to work sick, or me having to stay home and keep the kids alive and the laundry going and all of us fed.

On the plus side, Amelia took a nap today. That almost never happens these days. On the negative side, Anthony didn't. Nap that is. And he's not a happy little man when he doesn't nap. I'm not sure what the point of this post was. I know I had something I was going to tell you all about. Ugh it must be time for more nyquil.

Did you know that when you can type by touch, you don't even have to open your eyes to blog? Just lay in bed with the laptop and ramble on about nothing. Amelia is laying on me watching cartoons, and she just asked me to buy her some Polar watches. I don't even know what that is. Okay, I think it's time to end this load of krap now. If you don't hear from me for a few days, send in a hazmat team. No one else should get this bug we have. It sucks.

bleh

Still sick. Still feel like krap. Kids are still driving me crazy, although Amelia is trying, she told Anthony not to jump on me because I don't feel good. Sweet girl. :-) So in between loads of laundry, I'm laying in bed watching cartoons with the kids and looking for stuff online. My kids don't need clothes really right now, but that doesn't mean I can't look does it? I thought Gymbo was expensive, and then I discovered catimini. Now some of their stuff is cute. Take this poncho for instance.

I think Amelia would probably love it.

Anyone want to guess how much it costs?

It's now on sale at half off and is still more than I would spend, but I'm talking about the original sale price. Are you ready for this? It's $92. For a little sweater thing! Seriously? If someone can really afford to pay that for a sweater for their preschooler, can you send me some $$? Cause I could use it for something important like food or gas or preschool.

Ugh

I'm sick. And it sucks, because I'm a big baby. I took some cold medicine though so I don't feel as sick, but now I feel like my head is off in outer space somewhere. I swear this stuff makes me loopy. I'm bummed that I got sick now, we had stuff planned this week, a birthday party tomorrow, and I was supposed to go out on Wednesday. Not going to happen if I'm feeling like this. Maybe I just need more caffeine. I wonder if I can convince Jeff to get me an espresso machines for my birthday.

Amelia is begging me to go to the park and Anthony is waking up from his nap, so I guess it's time to go for a walk to the park. I told her we'd go yesterday but we never made it.

Weird

I think I'm in the twilight zone or something. It's almost 8:30, and my children are asleep. They are usually up by 6. Weird! Amelia and Jeff went to a friend's house las night to watch a UFC fight on PPV, so that's probably why she is still asleep. No idea what's up with Anthony.

Five years!

In February Jeff and I will have been married for 5 years. We got married in vegas on Valentine's day. We moved to the OC at the same time. I got pregnant a couple months later. We both had new jobs, a new apartment, a new marriage and I was a crazy pregnant lady who vomited almost constantly as well. I really did not want to move here but came because it was what Jeff had wanted. It was a big adjustment for both of us. That first year of marriage was probably one of the hardest things I have ever done. But, we made it through it and we have two wonderful children, and we haven't killed each other yet. I'm trying hard to figure out what we should do for our anniversary. I think it's a 3 day weekend. I don't want to spend a lot of money though and of course we'll have the kids with us as well.

So all of you who are married, what was your best anniversary gift?

We survived!

I guess it's a sign of adulthood that I'm a little glad Christmas is over for this year? Mostly I just want to take the darn tree down so I will stop finding ornaments all over the house. (Thank you Anthony, my little redistribution king.)

We had a great Christmas eve at my friend Kathy's house. I think my kids got almost as many toys there as they did at home on Christmas morning! Speaking of Kathy, it's her birthday today. So you should all go to her blog and harass her wish her a Happy Birthday. Anyway, it was a very nice evening. Then we came home and I was up until 3AM putting together the kitchen that Santa got the kids. Next year, Santa's on his own for assembly! LOL Everyone slept in though and we didn't get up to do presents until 9, which was a good thing considering Anthony was up and down all night. Poor kid does not do holidays and not going to bed in his bed on time very well. It tends to mess up his sleep for a few days afterwards.

Christmas morning was nice, Amelia loves the kitchen. Anthony loves the cleaning set my mom got them, he has been carrying around the broom ever since. Today I'm going to take the tree down and work on putting the house back together, I swear it was clean on Wednesday, not sure how it got trashed in one day!

Happy Holidays

I hope you all have a very merry Christmas, or a Happy Hanukkah or a merry Chrismahanukwanzakah.

Amelia and I had the funniest conversation earlier. It all started with her understanding of Christmas and Santa. Her first concern was the fact that we don't have snow. I told her we don't get snow at Christmas (Yes it's true, my child has never seen snow) but it's okay we still have Christmas. She persisted with the idea that we needed snow for Christmas. When I asked her why, she explained that Santa needs snow for his sled. If there is no snow, then his reindeer can't land with him and his sled on the roof. (She also pointed out that our roof is not flat so he couldn't land anyway. I skipped over that point.) I think I've finally convinced her that Santa will show up and she will get some presents for tomorrow. Right now all presents are in hiding in my room, Anthony is constantly trying to disassemble the tree I can only imagine what he would do with wrapped presents, so they won't come out until after bed tonight.

So anyway, I hope you all have a happy holiday! I'm going to eat good food and have a good time, and be ready to hit the treadmill the day after Christmas. :-)

So Sad

A baby I've never met passed away today, and it just about broke my heart. Her mom is a nanny from my SoCal nannies group. Kaia was born in August and started having some medical problems recently. When I read the email this morning to say she was gone , I burst into tears. I can not imagine losing one of my children. I just want to hug and snuggle them, and I can't even think what these parents are going through.

So if you're the praying sort, say a little prayer for them. And then hug your kids and hold them close because life is often way shorter than we had planned it to be.

Menu Plan Monday

This week is going to be a little short on the recipes since we're going out on Christmas Eve, and Christmas dinner will be at 1PM and then we'll have leftovers for dinner, and then I think we're going out on Saturday as well. So that only leaves Monday Tuesday and Friday this week since Sunday is usually just sandwiches or fend for yourself night.

It's just going to be the four of us on Christmas, so dinner is not going to be a big deal. We're having Ham,(at Jeff's request, it's not my favorite but it's easy!) mashed potatoes, salad, rolls and sweet potato casserole. I might make a pie for dessert but that seems like a lot of food already, so we'll see.
Christmas Morning I'm going to try this recipe for
Sausage Egg Casserole out, you prepare it all ahead of time and then just throw it in the oven when everyone wakes up Christmas morning.

Monday: Chicken pot pie, Salad

Tuesday: Pasta, Veggies, Salad

Wednesday: Christmas Eve

Thursday Christmas

Friday: Garlic Grilled Cheese, Sweet potato fries

Saturday: Pizza (We'll be out)

So yeah thats our menus for the week. Nothing too exciting around here. I'm off to grocery shop and go to costco with everyone else in Southern California. Eeep!

Why?

Why do apartments and condos have almost no indoor lighting? I do not understand why. Almost every apartment or condo I have lived in has been this way. We end up with 37 lamps floating around the house, and the kids pull them over, and knock them over on themselves. That's going to be one of the important criteria when I buy a house. It must have lights in the rooms! Okay bizarre rambling rant over now, go back to your regularly scheduled programs. :-)

Spam!

Are they trying to tell me something? I have gotten 3 emails today about the best diet pill on the market. LMAO Not sure if it's random after Christmas spam or if I'm just special. I haven't done so well the last few days on the food stuff, so I'm back to counting points today. We'll see Monday when I weigh in what the damage is. Hopefully I can get it back under control without too much of a gain. We'll see.

Vote for my kids!

So there are only a few days in this contest, and Jeff just entered the kids today, but it can't hurt to try.

Now what do I do?

Today has been a weird day. The kids slept in until 8 so instead of the regular getting up time of around 6, I got to sleep until almost 8. It's totally thrown off my whole day. Also not helping is the fact that my niece got a hold of her Mama's cell phone at 2 am and called my cell phone (conveniently placed 12 inches from my head on the night stand) repeatedly.

Anthony is napping and Amelia is coloring and it's just quiet around here. I have a few loads of laundry to do, and I need to mop the hardwood, but other than that, the house is fairly clean. (Can I just say how much I miss having cleaning people? I think it was worth getting pregnant just to not have to do the heavy cleaning for almost a year. )

I know what we're having for dinner (whole wheat pasta, Salad and baked sweet potatoes), and Amelia has had lunch. I don't have any bows that need to be made, Christmas shopping is done. There aren't any shows on the DVR that I can watch with Amelia awake. Now what do I do??? This may be the first time since I had Anthony I haven't had 37 things that needed to be done immediately. Weird.

ETA: Thirty seconds after I posted this Anthony woke up screaming, the laundry buzzed in the dryer and Amelia peed on the bathroom floor, so I guess things are back to normal.

Santa Clause is coming to town!

Amelia told me earlier today that Christmas can't come to our house because we haven't decorated yet. I guess I 'm not going to get away without a tree this year. Anthony is so into everything I figured he wouldn't leave it alone. I'll have to figure something out! :-)

Am I ready for this?

I did it. I signed Amelia up for preschool. I wasn't sure if we would get in or not; there were 3 spaces for January remaining when I called yesterday, but they hadn't done any of the registrations yet. So I called my dear husband at work and ,harassed him, threatened him, asked him nicely to fax everything over to them. And I just checked and they billed my credit card. So, I'm assuming that means we're in! They only notify you if you don't get in, which I think is not cool but whatever. So for 9 hours a week my kid will be in someone else's care. I will have to volunteer some in the class, so at least I'll be around, but I'm still a little nervous. However, I think she is more than ready. She is obsessed with the idea of school and she loves going to gymnastics. I think she will thrive in school once she gets used to it. Now I just have to get used to idea.

I'm home! :-)

I have a bunch of pictures to post, but right now I'm busy cleaning my house and making bows for a craft boutique tomorrow. Wish me luck, I have no idea what people want to buy or not, so I'm just making a bunch of different stuff.
